LPM is changing!  Significant revisions have been made (or are in the process of being made) to the LPM curriculum to meet ecumenical needs and changing needs of church musicians.  The national board has engaged the best writers available to help in the revision process. In the first half of 2007, the Liturgy and Philosophy classes have been completely rewritten. Revisions to the Hymnody course will be completed and posted summer 2008.  The guitar track of the Leadership of Congregational Song class is in the process of revision (2008).

For complete background on the process that led to these revisions, click here.

In the past, LPM coordinators were given the "green LPM book" with the curriculum in it.  As you might imagine, it was a very large three-ring binder that was difficult to transport.  The board felt that online delivery of this curriculum was a natural evolution for us. When future revisions are made, they can be more easily and quickly distributed to coordinators.  The online curriculum is housed at the Leader Resources website.  Coordinators who are current with their training (click here for a list of recent LPM coordinator graduates) can access the online curriculum for a reduced-rate fee. See the Leader Resouces website for complete details or look at the "Coordinator Letter from the National LPM Board - June 2008" under National LPM Board Letters to Coordinator on the Documents page .  Other supporting materials (such as "Starting & Running a Local LPM Program" and accompanying handouts) are available on the Documents page of this website.

In addition to the overviews of the various courses that have been available for some time, now short samples of each course can be viewed. Click here to see the overviews and samples.

One point of confusion needs to clarified.  The LPM curriculum is being offered for online delivery at this time.  LPM classes are NOT being taught online at this time.  The national board has discussed offering the option of taking LPM classes online, and is beginning to evaluate possibilities of such classes.

As a begining step in this direction, the LPM board taught a class entitled "Resources for an Effective Music Ministry" (that was based on the class in the LPM curriculum of the same name) for the CALL program (Center for Anglican Learning and Leadership) at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in 2007.  The board learned a great deal from the experience.  Plans include future collaborations between LPM and CALL.
